Infomaniak Mail

Switzerland

Swiss-hosted email from a Geneva-based provider that runs its own data centers and doesn't sell your data.

Screenshot of Infomaniak Mail

The mail service from Infomaniak, a Geneva-based hosting company that has been around since 1994 and is one of Switzerland's larger independent tech firms. Now part of their kSuite bundle, which also covers drive, calendar, video meetings and a workspace assistant.

What you get

  • A free mailbox with 20 GB of storage and no ads, on `@ik.me`, `@etik.com` or `@ikmail.com`
  • Custom-domain mail on paid plans, plus team and business tiers
  • Open-source iOS and Android apps, with the code published on GitHub
  • Calendar, contacts, a drive and a video meeting tool, all part of kSuite

Where it sits

Servers are in Infomaniak's own data centers in Switzerland, powered by renewable electricity and using recycled heat for nearby buildings. The legal entity is Swiss, so data falls under Swiss privacy law rather than EU or US rules.

Honestly

Less famous outside Switzerland than Proton, but Infomaniak is a substantial company with its own infrastructure, a long track record and a genuine sustainability story. The free tier alone makes it worth a look if you want a Swiss alternative to Gmail without a subscription.
