Privacy Policy

Techropa is a directory of European software alternatives. We try to collect as little data about you as possible — and to be honest about what we do collect.

Who we are

Techropa ("we", "us") operates this website. If you want to reach the people behind it, email startkopen@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Newsletter signups. Your email address, plus the timestamp and IP of the signup as proof of consent. We keep it only to send you the newsletter you asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link in every email.
  • Server logs. Standard request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp, URL) kept for up to 30 days for security and debugging.
  • No analytics. We do not run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or third-party trackers. There is no behavioural profiling.

Why we're allowed to process this data

Under the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) the legal bases we rely on are consent for the newsletter and legitimate interest for keeping the site online and free of abuse.

Where the data lives

Site content is hosted by Vercel, which serves pages from a global edge network including EU locations. Our newsletter is sent through Kit (formerly ConvertKit), a US-based email service provider, so your email address is transferred to and stored on servers in the United States. Both transfers take place under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the safeguard recognised by the GDPR for international transfers.

Sub-processors

The third parties that process personal data on our behalf are:

  • Vercel Inc. (United States) — website hosting, request logs and edge delivery.
  • Kit (United States) — newsletter delivery and subscriber storage.
  • Sanity.io (Norway / United States) — content management for tool entries and editorial copy. Does not process newsletter data.

We'll update this list when we add or change a sub-processor.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top of the page. Material changes are announced in the newsletter.
