Privacy Policy

Techropa is a directory of European software alternatives. We try to collect as little data about you as possible — and to be honest about what we do collect.

Who we are

Techropa ("we", "us") operates this website. If you want to reach the people behind it, email techropa@proton.me.

What we collect

  • Newsletter signups. Your email address, plus the timestamp and IP of the signup as proof of consent. We keep it only to send you the newsletter you asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link in every email.
  • Server logs. Standard request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp, URL) kept for up to 30 days for security and debugging.
  • Analytics. We use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are popular, referring sites, and approximate country. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not build a profile of you. We do not run Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or ad-network cookies.

Why we're allowed to process this data

Under the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) the legal bases we rely on are consent for the newsletter, and legitimate interest for keeping the site online, free of abuse, and understanding aggregate usage through cookieless analytics.

Where the data lives

Site content is hosted on a global edge network that includes EU locations, and our cookieless analytics are provided by that same hosting platform. Our newsletter is sent through an email service provider based outside the EU/EEA, so your email address is transferred to and stored on servers outside the EU/EEA. That transfer takes place under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the safeguard recognised by the GDPR for international transfers.

Sub-processors

The third parties that process personal data on our behalf are:

  • A website hosting and edge-delivery provider — serves the site, keeps request logs, and provides cookieless usage analytics.
  • An email service provider — newsletter delivery and subscriber storage.
  • A content management provider — stores tool entries and editorial copy. Does not process newsletter data.

We'll update this list when we add or change a sub-processor.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top of the page. Material changes are announced in the newsletter.
