Collabora Online
Germany
Browser-based office suite built on LibreOffice, designed for self-hosted and cloud deployments.
European Alternative to:

A self-hostable office suite from Collabora Productivity, the UK-based company that does most of the heavy lifting on LibreOffice. Run by Michael Meeks, Collabora packages the LibreOffice engine as a server you can drop next to a Nextcloud, ownCloud, Seafile or your own platform, so editing happens entirely on your infrastructure.
What you get
- Real-time collaborative editing of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ODF documents in the browser
- Integration with Nextcloud, ownCloud, Moodle, Seafile, EGroupware, and via WOPI
- Self-hosted Docker images, plus a managed Collabora Online cloud option
- Mobile and tablet apps for iOS and Android, also fully Collabora-hosted
- Long-term support contracts for the underlying LibreOffice engine, which a lot of governments rely on
Where it's used
Collabora Online powers document editing in a long list of European public-sector deployments, including the German federal cloud projects and various regional governments. It's the obvious pick when you need MS Office-compatible editing without the documents leaving your servers.
Honestly
The free Code edition exists but the supported version costs money per user, and that catches some teams off guard. The editing experience is good, not Google-Docs slick. What you get for the trade-off is a fully sovereign office stack: your documents never visit anyone else's cloud, and there's a real European company on the support contract.
